Dear Editor: Fleming Drive and its surrounding streets are part of a London subdivision, serviced by the City of London for snow plowing, garbage collection and all the services that other areas of London get based on their taxes. It’s time there was some introspection by the City. It was in fact the City that allowed that land to be zoned for residential use some 15 to 20 years ago. A little foresight then would have revealed that a residential subdivision, a minute’s walk from the campus, would have had the potential to become a haven for student living. Instead, we will get the usual bluster from City officials, they’ll ask Fanshawe for solutions while offering none of their own. More policing isn’t the answer. A change of zoning bylaws or placing limits on the amount of renters in any single dwelling should be reexamined. Hopefully when the City begins development of the Highbury - Oxford St. property they don’t give developers carte blanche or we may have another student ghetto 20 years down the road. T. Vincent
