The students of the fashion merchandising and fashion design programs are ready to rock you through the ages with their Rock ‘N’ Runway Revolution fashion show this Thursday, November 26.

Audience members can expect to see looks inspired by the last five decades of rock ‘n’ roll. About 56 students have been creating their designs by using donated materials from Goodwill and altering them in true rockstar style to complete the original looks.

Students paint a familiar and famous silhouette for the Rock 'N' Runway Revolution show.“Some are really hardcore, plaid, studs. Some are more classic (but) there’s lots of leather and vinyl,” said Carly Sauder, promotions coordinator for the show.

The proceeds from each $30 ticket are going towards WOTCH Community Mental Health Services – My Sister’s Place, a London charity that helps women who are homeless or may be at risk of becoming homeless. Part of the services provided by My Sister’s Place, in addition to providing women with food and shelter, is offering workshops. One involves jewelry-making and some of that jewelry will be available for sale at the show as well.

While the audience does good by donating their dollars, they’ll be entertained by the fashions and nostalgic tunes from the Rolling Stones, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, the Beatles and more as they coincide with the era-appropriate fashion.

The models will not be the only ones dressed up either. Those coming to take in the show are encouraged to suit up in their best rockstar duds and studs – and maybe win a prize.

“We want people to dress up. It’s going to be a fun event and interactive as well,” said Sami Nisker, co-coordinator of promotions.

Along with a silent auction of goodies from local businesses and a signature Rockstar drink available, the night’s got everything needed for a fashionable rock and roll experience.

The show is taking place at the London Music Hall. Students can attend the afternon show for only $10 or the evening show for $30. Tickets can be purchased outside the bookstore Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, or at the Biz Booth and M3010 office.
