Working for the FSU Publications

The work study program is designed to provide work opportunities to full-time post-secondary or post-diploma students with a demonstrated financial need.

If you are a Fanshawe student, and want to work for the Fanshawe Student Union, the first step is to fill out a Work Study application. Type work study in the first field and click the Search button. A description of Work Study will appear below. Click on the Apply link below this description to fill out the application.

Once you have filled out the form and been approved, email Amy Romao (FSU Administrative Support - Services) at the position you are interested in, along with your resume and work study approval letter. Resumes can also be dropped off in person in room SC 2001 in the Student Centre.

FSU Publications currently has the following work study positions available:

Sports Writer

Work Assignment Duties:

  • Write various sports items and stories for the Interrobang newspaper and FSU website.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a firm grasp of the English language and the ability to write in a coherent understandable manner.
  • Ability to follow instructions as well as to exercise creative freedom independently.
  • Must be outgoing, task oriented and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Work Assignment Duties:

  • Scriptwriting, shooting video, editing and producing a variety of promotional videos for the FSU. These will be used for websites, plus, community event work, video downloading and review as well as working with reporters on some news stories.

Required Qualifications

  • Camera experience, in addition to editing, and scriptwriting
  • Punctual and responsible.
  • Ability to problem solve, meet deadlines, work independently, and very task-oriented.
  • Having your own camera is an asset.
