Intramurals & Extramurals
Our intramurals take place during non-academic times during
spares. There is no cost to enter a team or as an individual with
the exception of Mens and Womens Ice Hockey, which takes
place at Stronach arena in the late evening. Sports include
Mens and Womens Ice Hockey, Coed Softball, Ball Hockey,
Coed 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 Basketball, Coed Touch Football, Mens,
Womens and Coed Volleyball and Mens and Womens Indoor
Extramural Programs offer students a chance to play other college
and university teams. You must play in the same sport of
the Intramural program in order to be part of an Extramural
Open Recreation & Self-Directed Activity: ball diamonds, table
tennis, soccer fields and gymnasiums are available for open
activity. Equipment bookings require student campus card. Open
recreation nights are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights from
10 PM to 12 AM.
Booking equipment to borrow is easy and FREE! Just bring your
student card to the Fanshawe Athletics Counter (Room J1034:
Open Monday to Friday 9 AM - 5 PM). For gymnasium access
and equipment after 5 PM and weekends please contact
Fitness 101 located in the Fanshawe Community Fitness Centre
main lobby atrium.
Fanshawe College is a proud member of the OCAA-Ontario
College Athletic Association (www.ocaa.com) and the CCAA-Canadian College Athletic Association (www.ccaa.ca).
Fanshawe College has a winning tradition which has led to
numerous provincial and national championships.
Tryouts begin for all programs in late August and
Intercollegiate eligibility requirements include being full-time
student attending classes or being on an approved co-op placement.
Entrance awards and athletic scholarships and bursaries available.
Intercollegiate (varsity) teams include: Mens and Womens Cross-Country Running, Mens and Womens Basketball, Mens and Womens Badminton, Mens & Womens Indoor and Outdoor Soccer, Mens and Womens Volleyball, Mens and Womens Golf and Mens, Womens and Mixed Team Curling (www.fanshawec.ca/athletics).
Fully-equipped Health Club located in J Building next to the Student Union Building and Student Residence.
Open weekdays 6 AM to 10 PM, weekends 8 AM to 7 PM.
Membership includes the use of all cardiovascular & resistance
training equipment, aerobic classes such as yoga, boot camp,
and glider, a personalized fitness program design, equipment orientation,
and access to the Carling Heights swimming pool.
Additional services include massage therapy, personal training
and group training, outwardly active recreational programs; such
as spikes volleyball, paintball, and snow tubing, squash courts
with league and ladder play, gymnasium rentals to community,
academic, and specialized groups; such as Police Candidate
practice PREP testing, and finally soccer field and baseball diamond
rentals as well.
Student memberships: $33.60/month plus HST (available per
semester or annually). No Initiation fees.
